Gervonta Davis vs Vasyl Lomachenko negotiations have come to an abrupt halt.

Following their wins in May and June respectively, representatives for Loma and Tank began talks about a potential WBA and IBF lightweight world title unification fight later this year.

Fans began to get excited about the arrival of the potential match-up that many have been hoping to see for several years.

It's understood talks between long-time promotional rivals Bob Arum's Top Rank (who promote Lomachenko) and Al Haymon's PBC (who represent Davis) were going well.

However, the Ukrainian has now decided to step away from the negotiations.

Loma is going to take some time out of boxing and does not plan to fight again this year.

"Loma is not in the mood right now," his manager Egis Klimas told boxing reporter Steve Kim, "He doesn't have the motivation at the moment.

"He's taking off, he wants to spend more time with the family.

"He doesn't want to do anything until the end of the year.

"So he's definitely not coming to the ring until the end of the year."

Regarding the fact Lomachenko is walking away from a mega money fight, Klimas added: "With Loma, just money is not what motivates him. He doesn't take anything just because of money.

"You can offer him millions, tens of millions of dollars - if he doesn't have motivation, he's not ready to prepare for the fight."

According to ESPN, this could now open the door for Shakur Stevenson to fight Davis next.

He is one of the possible foes for Tank alongside William Zepeda and a potential Isaac Cruz rematch.
