Popular WWE star forced Brock Lesnar to break character with joke that left him in hysterics on live television

R-Truth has legend status among many WWE fans for his longevity and his ability to make others laugh, even if it isn’t always part of the script.

Professional wrestling is well established as an art and entertainment form rather than a genuine competition, but there always moments when plans go awry.

Fans are so used to seeing the heroes and villains in which they’re invested nailing polished pre-fight promos on the microphone and achieving incredible feats of athleticism, anything that slips through the net always catches the eye.

Sometimes the consequences are dire – miscalculating a move by a fraction or the wrong slip at the wrong time has resulted in serious, legitimate injuries.

Thankfully those instances are rare, and there are plenty of off-the-cuff moments that WWE fans are able to lap up, and veteran Truth is responsible for many of the recent examples.

The 52-year-old is far more than a class clown, as two runs as United States Champion will attest, but his natural charisma and likeability have long proved a hit with viewers and crowds.

It appears the feeling is mutual among his wrestling colleagues, too, with many a star left struggling to keep their composure when working with him on screen.

One of Truth’s highest profile ‘victims’ in this regard is WWE legend Brock Lesnar, who was famously left in stitches after one R Truth joke during an episode of Monday Night Raw.

While trying to maintain his stony-faced exterior during his years as ‘The Beast’ working alongside Paul Heyman, Lesnar was in the ring with Truth in 2020.

The fan favourite, then the WWE 24/7 Champion, interrupted the pair as they addressed the powerhouse’s participating in the upcoming Royal Rumble.

With Heyman running his mouth and WWE Champion Lesnar prowling and pacing beside him, the hostility was punctuated by the unexpected sound of R Truth’s entrance music.

The star, who won tag team gold at WrestleMania earlier this year, declared his own entry into the Rumble match with a rambling address that already had Lensar doing his best to hide his smirks, before matters really got out of hand.

Seemingly turning his attention to Lensar, Truth continued: “It ain’t the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog.

“You may be a big, big big man, but I know you will go flying over that top rope, Paul Heyman!”

Truth bringing Heyman into it left Lensar with nowhere to go and hide his amusement as he openly laughed out loud, at one stage appearing to start exiting the ring as a result.

The Manager duly responded by ‘reminding’ Truth it was his client and not Heyman himself who’d be entering the Rumble, at which point Truth hilariously undeclared himself for the match.

Seeking to then exit the ring unscathed, one half of Awesome Truth hit his trademark dance routine before running straight into a clothesline from Lesnar who left him laying.

The Rumble match in question went on to be won by Scot Drew McIntyre, who later went on to defeat Lensar for the WWE Championship at the COVID-hit WrestleMania behind closed doors.
