329 events will take place across the next two and a half weeks as the best athletes around the world from 32 different sports congregate to take part in the Summer Olympics in Paris.

The action will get underway this afternoon with the opening round of matches from the men's football event and the men's rugby sevens pool stage action.

The opening ceremony will take place on Friday evening and which will signal the proper start to the action, which will see action from 24 sports take place on Saturday, with 14 opening day gold medals up for grabs.

327 athletes will be representing Team GB at the 2024 Olympics, which makes Great Britain ninth in the list of countries with most participants, with the USA leading the way with 592 competitors.

In hosting this summer's Games, Paris becomes the second city, after London, to have hosted the Summer Olympics three times, and will also see breakdancing, or breaking, make its Olympic debut as a sport.
